As early as 1000 BC, Damask Roses were grown on the island of Samos, off the coast of Greece, in tribute to Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love. Today, the Damask Rose is found across the Western world, notably thanks to the Crusades, which helped establish it as a precious cosmetic ingredient. Its harvest follows an ancestral tradition. Between May and June, the first blossoms are handpicked at dawn before the sun's warmth can diminish their intensely fragrant aroma. It is cultivated at high altitude, where it draws essential nutrients season after season. The flowers are distilled within 24 hours of harvesting to preserve all of their properties.
